First Prize: QHY5III678C valued at $500 USD.
The QHY5III678C is a colour planetary camera with a 1/1.8″ size sensor and small 2.0µm pixels. It is especially well suited to colour planetary astrophotography, and close-up Lunar photography. It also has an excellent response around the near infrared through all the Bayer filter elements. This means that with the included IR850 filter, the camera is perfect for monochrome infrared astrophotography.
In this latest generation of sensors, the photodiode portion of the pixel well is physically deeper than in previous sensors, allowing photons of longer wavelengths to penetrate deeper into the substrate. This dramatically increases the sensor’s sensitivity to red and near-infrared (NIR) light. The sensor displays almost equal peak sensitivity to NIR light as it does to light in the visible spectrum.
The QHY5III678C is a member of Version Two of the QHY5III planetary and guiding cameras. These are all equipped with a 512MB DDR3 image buffer which can effectively reduce the pressure on computer transmission. This is a great help for planetary photography which often requires writing a large amount of data in a short period of time.

The winners of each category are chosen from the five highest-scoring images determined after live judging during the Astrophotography Prize Event.
Category winners receive a title, e.g. ‘2025 Deep Space Photographer of the Year', trophy, sponsor prize and preparation and shipping of their winning photo, as an AstroPanel in FineArt quality and size L (approximately 28x20 in / 70x50 cm) from Astrography.
Winners of sponsors' physical prizes are responsible for any associated postage fees, import duties, and relevant taxes required for prize delivery.
